What’s not to like about Shaharah?

Whatever that mysterious “it” factor is…she’s got it in abundance. She can sing, she can dance, she can sing and dance at the same time without missing a beat and make the entire audience fall in love with her. Her live shows are crazy hot! So…we’re sharing some of the goodness ;)
Check out www.shaharah.com for more!

Hello, hello! We’re back with some more music we like!
Today we share the sounds of Curtis MacDonald and Erimaj.
What is there to say about it? So much! Both of todays artists have received very warm receptions from fans and music critics alike.
Follow the links and get your music education on! Trust me, your ears will be glad that your eyes are slacking ;)

Greetings and Salutations :-D
It’s a rainy, rainy day out there but with great music, who cares about the weather?
Today’s music to refresh the soul is…the dopeness of L.A.’s Sid Sriram. Oh, two awesome L.A. artists in a row? Coincidence? I think not.
We first discovered Sid Sriram a couple months ago, via a facebook post of his cover of Frank Ocean’s “We All Try”…and he blew us away! Haven’t heard it yet? Check it out:
Soulful music seems to be a the theme of this Music We Like week, and we’re not surprised. With so much empty music out there, it’s nice to listen and feel something. But don’t write Sid Sriram off as a cover artist. No sir, this singer/songwriter has great original material too, and it feels good! His in studio videos definitely give off a great vibe of creativity, making viewers feel as if they are a part of the process. On his twitter, Sid announced that fans can look forward to another new video on 12/31. Happy New Years!
Take a peak at “2am Prayer” and for more Sid, stop by his website! http://sidsriram.com/
Combined the HighBreedMusic team has a very eclectic taste in music. Ranging from the corniest pop tunes to soul-moving exclusives, we cover just about every genre. Differences aside, we can always agree on really good music. This week, we’ll give you a sample of artists we’ve been feeling in 2011.
First up:

Probably one of our favorite discoveries this year, this trio puts everyone @ HighBreedMusic in a great mood when their music plays. It’s not every day we find someone with a different sound, but King has successfully crafted a vibe that is soulful, fresh, and contagious. And they are seeping into the music systems of music lovers all over the world. The L.A. based group’s debut EP, “The Story” (available to purchase on Amazon & iTunes) has such a hypnotic effect that many times, we don’t even realize there are only three tracks.
Where can you hear more King? They are a featured on the upcoming (2012) Robert Glasper Experiment album Black Radio.

The track is called “Move Love.” (Skip to 1:21 for the song if you don’t want to listen to the interview.)
We are definitely looking forward to hearing more creations from these lovely ladies!
Give your ears a late Christmas present!

Oh snap! The winter has finally found us!
I even had to bundle up the pug in her pink winter jacket.
She hates it.
What’s going on with HighBreedMusic? Wellll…everything! We’ve got full plates here and endless appetites for doing good work.
Stay tuned!
Song of the day: Poop’s bark at the doorbell. I’ll have to post it for all to see. It is hilarious. Thank God for Studio Mascots. And pugs.
Thank you for the shout out Rouj! We missed you here too :)
It’s late night, Friday…oh yeah. But down here in the main office of HighBreedMusic, we’re working hard. We’ve had a crazy couple of weeks, jam-packed with travel, meetings, sessions, and visitors from Montreal.
Our publicist, Sophy Kay is here to work with us for a few days. It’s good to have the remote crew in the building. We’re working hard to do what we do and to bring it all to you in time for our launch. Woo…no sleep till Brooklyn…as she learned the last night when we were still going strong around 2:30 in the morning. Oh, we will break you in my dear. No worries ;)
Right now, I’m waiting for a video I’m working on to render…two hours says the message box. Word? Aye. Lining up audio is…time consuming…but it feels really good once the delays/echoes are worked out. Success…woooo.. In the meantime, I’m updating all of our sites and working on some paperwork. The Khan, Shabaz, and Bobby Pocket are repairing cables. Soldering stinks. Literally. I almost blamed poor Poops-Zsa-Top for the foul stench, lol, but it was just stench of wires being soldered.
I feel my energy starting to fade away, I think it’s time for some sugar. Or 20 deep breaths. I read that 20 of those are as effective as a cup of coffee and there’s no crash.
Maybe I’ll try it out.
Convo right now:
BP: “Damn bitches.”
TK: “I agree. Damn bitches. (sung) They are there to waste our tiiiime.”
Yeah. These guys. Smh.
Have a good night!

After four months, I made it back to Brooklyn from Montreal. I dropped in to see my homies @ the HighBreedMusic headquarters. Walking up to the building all I can remember is the insanity of the evacuation in June! The building looks great, the studio looks fantastic. Sadly my bed has turned into a storage for drums :( Highbreed’s renovations have made the studio more cozy and inspiring than ever! So glad to be back here with the fantastic, welcoming crew. BIG LOVE.

Snarky Puppy killed it today at The Breeding Ground NYC. Their rehearsal was broadcast live on NUMUBU for viewers around the world to enjoy. The Breeding Ground isn’t a rehearsal space, but we are honored to host Snarky Puppy as they prepare to record their next album in December. If you didn’t get a chance to see them during the last two rehearsals, make sure you tune in tomorrow. We’ll be doing another live broadcast courtesy of NUMUBU from 5pm-8pm EST.
Today, we filmed Vikter Duplaix at the BET screening of the season 2 premiere of Master of the Mix. We caught exclusive interviews with cast members and celebrity judges, DJ Kid Capri and AmberRose.
Was it cool? Yes, indeed. The event was hosted by Smirnoff and there were definitely a bunch of interesting people around. Season 2 of Master of the Mix looks like it’s going to be even more exciting than season 1. Check out the premiere, this Saturday at Midnight.
Now…it’s time to repair cables. I’m gonna bust out the soldering iron and get to work. See you tomorrow!

We just got back from eating burritos at Morelos…Yum. I think I’m waaaaay too full to stay up much longer, but I wanted to stop by and say hello and thank you to everyone who tuned in to our first live broadcast of Snarky Puppy’s rehearsals at The Breeding Ground on Numubu.
Snarky Puppy were good sports, answering questions, telling viewers a little about their background, and playing some awesome music for for everyone who tuned in. It was a great day and tomorrow will be even cooler. More band members will be coming through to rehearse, so we’ll have a full house. Wish I could be there too, but I’ll be filming a press event. Snow in October and everyone is bugging out. Funny, it was only a couple days that I told Angéle that I felt that we were going to go straight into winter after an extended summer…and looky, looky, it’s snowing outside. I don’t know if you can really call it snow…it’s a very slushy situation out there. Even Poops wasn’t happy with the weather. Our studio pug does not to go out in the rain. However, today, I discovered that if you put her in one of her jackets, she will happily stroll around Bushwick. Diva, baby.
Mafé had an awesome session today. Even though she wasn’t used to Tariq’s unconventional methods, she was able to deliver some incredible takes. Backed by Jesse Fischer on keys, Alex Busby Smith on bass, and Tariq Khan on drums, the track sounded really great.
We’ll putting together a video to share with you soon.
What’s going on now? I’m knocking out a bunch of office stuff while Jeff and Tariq are getting The High Breed’s permanent recording gear set up. Tonight…rehearsal. Can’t wait!
By the way, NUMUBU is the new crackness. If you’re not up on it yet, let me tell you, you really should be. You can find gigs and collaborators, network with other artists, promote your music…and on and on and on. Do it! :-D
Click here and it’ll take you to the place you want to be: on top of things!
