Snow in October and everyone is bugging out. Funny, it was only a couple days that I told Angéle that I felt that we were going to go straight into winter after an extended summer…and looky, looky, it’s snowing outside. I don’t know if you can really call it snow…it’s a very slushy situation out there. Even Poops wasn’t happy with the weather. Our studio pug does not to go out in the rain. However, today, I discovered that if you put her in one of her jackets, she will happily stroll around Bushwick. Diva, baby.
Mafé had an awesome session today. Even though she wasn’t used to Tariq’s unconventional methods, she was able to deliver some incredible takes. Backed by Jesse Fischer on keys, Alex Busby Smith on bass, and Tariq Khan on drums, the track sounded really great.
We’ll putting together a video to share with you soon.
What’s going on now? I’m knocking out a bunch of office stuff while Jeff and Tariq are getting The High Breed’s permanent recording gear set up. Tonight…rehearsal. Can’t wait!
By the way, NUMUBU is the new crackness. If you’re not up on it yet, let me tell you, you really should be. You can find gigs and collaborators, network with other artists, promote your music…and on and on and on. Do it! :-D
Click here and it’ll take you to the place you want to be: on top of things!
Holla :-)

Mar n’ Full Crate, Full Crate n Mar. Gosh darn those guys owned it, with nothing more than a nylon stringed guitar, keyboard and a computer. But all that is easy when you have the ability to cross oceans and countries, just to get the sound out. I liked the symbolic and physical connection New York shares with both of these two individuals’ destinations, Full Crate coming from LAX in sunny Los Angeles, and Mar coming from Skipoll and the big yellow trains in good old Amsterdam, with NYC smack dab in the middle. These guys have talent far beyond that of anyone I’ve ever seen with a similar setup by a mile. The Breeding Ground and respective Breeders were honored to work with them, and we look forward to their return.

So, (they say to never start a sentence with so, but I do not bow to standards) I totally just fell backwards on this Roc n Soc stool we got going on in the studio. I did it right in front of The Khan and it was one of those things that seem to happen in slow motion. I saw myself slowly going down…but let gravity take its course. It was pretty funny though, and not too painful, but something I thought was worth sharing with everyone. Patrookkuu holds no embarrassment.
The Khan is speaking French right now, and I am sort of jealous that I can only speak one language. Damn, Long Island…you sheltered me too much. It’s probably my fault though.
Today was pretty great. I met the awesome, amazingly talented piano player Andreas. I got a lot of work done in terms of writing for websites and company documents. Scott has returned at almost 100 percent “feeling-better” capacity from his flu sickness. Buse is in Boston- he is missed. Mikeinder went to a “pow-wow” which is pretty sweet; and our expert writer Nikki is in the city at her bridal. The studio is still being rearranged and everything is coming along nicely. Pictures will come soon! Till tomorrow everybody, have a happy Easter, Passover, or a general “Happy Holidays.” Till later!
