Bedstuy Live

Thank God it’s not as hot out today as it was yesterday. A heat break, yay.

Right on time too, because this evening we’re going to check out The Hipstones at Bedstuy Live in Brooklyn. Anis discovered this band the other day, and it just happens that they are playing at a music festival near here. And it’s free :) Can’t go wrong with that!

For more info on the festival, check it out here!

See you later :)

Tales of the Commuter Vol. 1

Today I boarded the m79 bus on my way to TheBreedingGround this morning. I realized upon walking up the steps to insert my MetroCard that I did not have enough money on it to cover the $2.50. When it swiped i saw I was charged 1.15, causing the card reader to beep. Now for all you New Yorkers, who DON’T take the bus, everytime you swipe your MetroCard on the bus and are charged the full fare you recieve a free transfer to whatever means of transportation you are onto next, i.e., pay for the bus, and the subway’s free, pay for the subway and the bus is free. I say this because had I had the $2.50 and swiped my card the ride on the subway next would have been free, however the bus driver informed me I would have to cough up some change in order to ride, which I promptly dropped some quarters and nickles into the slot to bring my payment up to $1.80. I had hoped for mercy in allowing me to ride as the driver KNEW I would still have to pay the full $2.50 when I arrived at the 6 train. As I arrived at Lexington, I smiled at him as I stepped off the bus and said “Have a good day!”, but as I took my first step down I heard him say “…Don’t you mean thanks for the free ride?” I promptly turned around at the last step as people awkwardly tried to to push me aside to get on, and repeated his exact phrase “Thanks for the free ride!” He frowned at me and muttered under his breath “It’s too late.” I not knowing what else to say or do, turned background and headed for the 6 train… good morning Manhattan, see ya later! Hello Brooklyn…
