Happy Birthday Chris!

A very warm thanks and happy birthday to Chris Rob, who blessed us last night with his vibrant recording session and charity concert at The Breeding Ground. Chris and his band of all stars including trumpet wiz Maurice Brown and drum virtuoso, Les Cleveland. My goodness gracious, it was hot hot hot last night. We can’t forget Lakecia Benjamin and Chelsea Baratz on alto and tenor sax,  Shawn Banks with the crazy percussion, or Sharief Hobley and Shelton Garner on guitar. The music was incredible and Chris got his special guests to move and sing along with him, intensifying the live vibe in the recording lounge. It was a truly amazing night. We celebrated at the end with some cake and tunes by DJ Sincere. We’re really glad that everyone who came out last night enjoyed their time here. Thank you for coming!!  You made the night very special.

Now…another power-packed session! More later :)

Show tonight!

So when I first heard of “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” I instantly feel in love with the beat.  I especially loved the piano part in the song, and I found out that an artist named Chris Rob had created the part.  I was even happier to find out that we will be seeing him perform live at the Best Buy in Union Square tonight!! This is honestly one of my craziest summer everrr.

Knowledge

Last night I sat in the studio with our guests singer Sara MK and guitarist Jordan Peters  as they talked about the difficulties involved in being a musician. We touched on several subjects from looking for management to being overprotective of projects. It was really interesting to hear their perspective and see that many artists share the same concerns.

But as The Khan always says, you have to have goals…or else, what are you working for? How do you know when you get there? We all agree that this is important, but defining them isn’t always easy…especially when you know you’re capable of doing anything. However, in order to avoid feeling like your time has been wasted, setting and meeting goals is a huge step in the right direction.

Tomorrow we’re going to see some awesome performances:

Chris Rob  Live @ Union Square Best Buy

Melanie Charles & The Journey, Live @ Medgar Evers Park

Both shows are free… come out, come out :)
