Dim Sum!

So this weekend was the first time I’ve ever had Dim Sum! Wow! It definitely lived up to my expectations.  It was almost exactly like a buffet, except for one amazing factor.  THE FOOD CAME TO YOU!  The food tasted incredible and there were an endless amount of choices.  I used to love Chinese food, but now I think I have a whole new love for it =d.  Look out Chinese Dim Sum restaurants, you have a hungry beast on the prowl ;)

Bedstuy Live

Thank God it’s not as hot out today as it was yesterday. A heat break, yay.

Right on time too, because this evening we’re going to check out The Hipstones at Bedstuy Live in Brooklyn. Anis discovered this band the other day, and it just happens that they are playing at a music festival near here. And it’s free :) Can’t go wrong with that!

For more info on the festival, check it out here!

See you later :)

Montreal

No sleep…no matter which city or country we’re in.

Bilkis and I are here on Day 2 of our trip, and we’re taking a little time out from walking around to catch our breath. Last night we hit up Jello Bar to see Alan Prater. Wooo! I had heard a lot about this charismatic stage wonder, but seeing and hearing him in person beats the pants off of youtube videos. After the show we got a chance to chat with him, and my my, what a charmer ;-) We’re definitely looking forward to linking up with him again.

I have to say we had a blast last night, dancing to the live music of the crazy band, and the tunes DJ Eric the Tutor was spinning. He’s going to be in NYC soon @ La Pomme, if you can catch him, you will be on your feet and smiling all night long.

I could go on and on, but let me summarize:

Food. Awesome.

Music. Incredible.

People. Fabulous.

…why aren’t you on your way up here?

Full Crate & Mar

Yesterday, we got to hang out with Amsterdam artists Full Crate & Mar as they had their live recording at The Breeding Ground. These guys man…they were a lot of fun to be around. Patient through the setup, hilarious during soundcheck, Full Crate and Mar were totally cool to work with.

Then it was show time, and just as soon as I left the stage…pow! Mind you, I was there through a bunch of the soundcheck, and I was still blown away by the music. So was everyone lucky enough to be in the audience. My highlight of the night: Mar’s acoustic version of “I Said.” People hate when you OMG…but OMG. :-D

I can’t wait for the audio team to start mixing! I look forward to the songs being stuck in my head for weeks.

Tonight: Mar is headed to DC, so if you’re in the NOVA area definitely check him out. If you’re in NYC, check out Full Crate at The Bedford.

Full Crate & Mar

I love the fact that the shows are always different from each other! Yesterday we had the pleasure to assist to a show very unique: two cute boys who came from Holland to make us discover their Dutch conception of music…

One is a talented DJ and the other one an incredible singer: so both of them form a great duo, that’s why I immortalized this magic moment by taking a picture with the two of them!

Sorry girls, HA HA HA!

Rainy Summer Days

…are nice because it cools down outside afterwards, and a little breeze kicks up. Makes you appreciate the sun coming up full and bright the next morning even more.

Play on my mood swings!

Today has been a little hectic already…but in a good way.

We’re preparing for a recording session tonight with artists from Amsterdam…it’s going to be awesome! We’ve been looking forward to this for months. Just goes to show, no one is beyond your reach if you put in the time and effort necessary to cultivate a relationship.

So now, back to the set up.

Tonight!

We’re all getting ready for the show here at the Breeding Ground tonight! Band from across the seas, a full house, and some great music.  We’re gona be in for a sweet night ;)

Cowboy Boots

Finally I found my cowboy boots; and most important, they worth $25: a good deal, right?

On the other side, they hurt my feet and are not very comfortable but this is just the beginning and after, they’ll fit me perfectly.

Le Funk

We’re jamming to DJ Sincere’s mix “Le Funk,” a funkjazztastic mix of old schools songs that your parents, maybe even your grandparents for some of you really younguns lol, shook their tail feathers too. It’s a great way to ease into the first morning of a busy work week.

Today, meetings, appointments…and the push to Montreal. Prince and Sade are playing at jazz fest, and those are only two of the names I can think of off the top of my head. If you’re looking for a cool summer quick getaway, Montreal is the place to be from June 25-July 3. Maybe we’ll see you there ;-)

For now,

on the grind-get it, get it!

Persian Food =d!

DC. Wow. Yum.  Those are basically the two words that sum this incredible city!  ”Wow” is for its amazing historical sites and diverse peoples, and “yum” is for the amazing variety of foods you can find there! I had a chance to visit my uncle (who lives overseas at the moment) and have some really delicious Persian food! By Persian food I mean a mouth watering piece of beef kabob with broiled tomatoes and a plate of steamy white rice, topped with saffron and a side of yogurt.  Oh yea!

My weekend

This weekend was so cool! I did a lot of things, like going to the Chicha by night with my friends and dancing until 3am, to Greenwich Village, Times Square again, the 5th avenue… I also entered into the NYU, but a very polite cop good-humored told me to get out: it was very cool to be hunted out by a cop, I’ll never forget that!

Thursday and Friday

Two days very specials: I feel like it’s been a while that I didn’t work!

I found out that I have a disease, the shopping disease: since I came, I travel the city because I’m still looking for my cowboy boots. Yesterday, I found the ideal pair of cowboy boots but it was too expensive: 125 dollars for a pair of shoes!!!!!

But I’m not done with that, no no no: when it will be 5 today, I’ll go to Beacon’s Closet.

The searching of cowboy boots is not over.

It’s a beautiful day

The sky is blue, the birds sing, the grass is green, the sun is up, people are tattooed…it’s a beautiful day.
