Third day at Montreal

Even if the weather is not really sunny, it’s a pleasure being here! Most of people speak French, so now I can understand conversations, people are very friendly and charming, the atmosphere in the city is very cheerful and I look forward to see the Festival in the streets!

PS: It’s very weird, I feel like I know most of the clubs, bars and music venues…Thanks database!

Wrote a blog…

…lost a blog.

I hate when that happens.

I’m frustrated now, so I’ll just sum it up.

Summer is awesome.

So are old school memories of making music videos to your then MTV favorite songs.

Our very own, DJ SINCERE @ The Bedford NYC tomorrow night. Check out some DJ Sincere mixes here and here.

Also, new music for you: Check out King! Smooooooth music. Put on and go to that special place.

Over (it) and out!

Red Bull!

So it was the first time I had lunch at Bills and I must say, they had some killer fries!  As weird as it sounds, their Red Bull also hit the spot.  Yes, Red Bull (in my opinion) does taste different in different places.  I don’t really know why, but I think it has something to do with the temperature of the fridge.  The colder, the better!  And honestly, I think I might’ve sprouted wings after that Red Bull.

I feel the sickness that Nikki has just gotten over creeping up into my veins and seeping into my flesh…and I am quite upset.  Thankfully, Nikki gave me some Echinacea and hopefully it works and I feel spritely tomorrow morning.  Until then, I must feed the sickness with a 2 hour, hot as hell, traffic spree and then 4 more hours of work at my job in Long Island! Welcome to the adult world Patrick.

Yes…welcome.  Picture a welcome mat made out of broken glass.  That’s the kind of welcome a young person has to the “adult” world.  This has been said 2 million times before, but damn, I wish I could be a kid again.  I want the days back where my biggest concern was getting home for dinner on time…or who was going to be my tag-football teammate.  Those were the days, man.  My nephew’s got no idea how lucky he is at age 4 to be entirely clueless.

But there are still amazing things to be done in the adult world that benefits all ages…and that’s really what you have to strive to do.  Why bother going to a job on a daily basis that you despise…just so you can do what I’m doing right now and complain?  As long as you do something worthwhile for others in your lifetime, then it’s all okay.  High Breed’s one of those special places where adults are doing what they love for a good cause…not sitting in 4x4 cubicles talking shit about their bosses or co workers.  Cha know what I mean?

Anyway, that is my ramble for the day.  Till tomorrow everyone!

“It’s so damn hot! Milk was a bad choice”

Holy Hotness!

So yeah…it’s extremely hot out today.  Although beautiful, and I would rather it be sunny, hot weather than cold, grey weather…it’s still not the best when you’re sitting in a car at a slow crawl for 2 hours with the inability to turn on the air in order to prevent the car from overheating.  Run on sentence…eh, things happen when it’s hot.  Anyway, can anybody guess what I’m about to say next? Yep…we’ve got a busy day today.  A lot of important meetings with some important people, a lot of writing articles, charts, and other documents, and a lot of mixing and editing.  Here’s to a sweaty, productive Thursday.

Gooooood Morrrrrrning

HighBreedMusic!!

Woooo!

I haven’t been to bed yet. I guess I must be feeling better after all. I realized at some point during the night that I hadn’t done any of my hoppy dances or sang any songs all day. I know I wasn’t feeling well at all, but it’s all over now! ( I hope…)

I spent a little time with the fabulous Scotty2Hotty tonight, between documents and meetings, and he lent me a new book to read. We trade, you know. I gave him The Once and Future King, and today I got…got…hmmm. I can’t seem to remember the name right now, and I forgot it in the office. Curses. Foiled again.

It’s amazing how productive I am after 10pm. Maybe I should work the late shift? lol.

We’ve got bunch of meetings tomorrow, I have 2 myself to talk with some writers about writing. That’s going to be exciting, who knows, we may be getting some print love soon-well that’s the plan, one of them.

I’m going to get back to work, but if you are out there reading, leave a note…sexy radio voice: what are you listening to right now? ;-)

I wasn’t listening to this, actually Erykah Badu is on, but this feels appropriate.

Top o’ the morning to yeh!

Melanie Charles

So last night we had a crazy show.  Melanie Charles and The Journey definitely rocked the house.  I was literally able to vibe in every one of their songs.  The drummer was on point, never missing a beat!  All in all, everyone seemed to be feeling the positive vibrations all around the Breeding Ground.

Anis

Melanie Charles and The Journey!

Putrookuu has just arrived for the Melanie Charles and The Journey session!  So far, all I have to say are the musicians as well as Melanie are all freaking awesome, warm, and inviting.  Getting ready for the session some more now, so anybody who wants to attend should really come…it’s going to be awesome, I can feel it.  Till later guys!

Tearing Down the Walls

As Nikki mentioned yesterday, the crew at HighBreed got to see the spectacular musical “Tearing Down The Walls” last night at the Riverside Theatre in Harlem.  With a seemingly effortless blend of humor and heart, I found myself laughing out loud, and tears filling up in my eyes in the span of minutes.  The cast, having met them prior to the show while they performed here, are wonderfully talented singers, musicians, and actors.  Aside from their soaring singing voices and “highly believable” acting, their performances were filled with an untouched bravery yet to be seen by this Long Island boy.  One actor even braced the stage wearing nothing but extremely short, orange shorts, and construction boots.  While laughing out loud, the audience also realized the amount of bravery that goes into an action like this.

On a stage filled with only 6 or 7 stage props, the cast’s realism and bravery allowed the audience’s imaginations to create backgrounds for each scene effortlessly.  When a story is soaked in so much realism, the stage doesn’t need to be filled with fake trains and buses just to prove to the audience that it’s actors are at a bus-stop/subway station.

The music, lyrics, and poetry were all outstanding and inspirational and with a setting in Harlem, a neighborhood where its audience could very well be selective, the play had a very universal feeling that touches on extremely contemporary territory…one in which any human being with a heart would feel, regardless of location.

Finally, it has been a quite while that I have seen art of this caliber end on a happy, hopeful note, but that’s what “Tearing Down The Walls” accomplished.  Happy tears, roaring laughter and cheers, and a standing ovation filled the theatre upon conclusion.  All in all, I have to say a big thanks to the cast for allowing us to come witness this awesome musical…one which gave me hope that we can all, if we try hard enough, tear down any walls that trap us in life…that keep us from seeing the sunshine…that force us to remain in horrible situations which seem to have no escape.  We can…but we have to have the passion.

Go see the musical before it ends on the 29th!  Till later.

Patrick Scheno

Hello again,

Patty here to spread some more love before I make my way back to Long Island.  It’s my brother’s birthday today…he’s freaking 30 years old now.  All I have to say to him is: ouch.  Just kidding though, 30 isn’t so bad (***make a ‘yeah right’ face).  No, really.  I’m looking forward to getting back with the family and busting his balls over it for the rest of the afternoon, and evening.

In other news, I am still keeping up on my French…with some extra help from The Khan today on how to pronounce certain letters.  It is one tough language.  As an Italian American and someone who took Italian in High School, I am very used to rolling my r’s like most Spanish/Italian speakers.  The French however, do something wicked with their throats and tongues that I can not quite comprehend yet.  It differs from Hebrew as well, as much as I try to pretend the sound you make with your throat is similar…it’s not at all.  I will not give up though until I can string at least two sentences together without any mistakes-my goal for the week.

Our crew was hard at work today, staring at computer screens for hours and making our fingers ache.  The Khan was on his usually daily meetings which never seem to stop, and Bilkis did not look away from her computer screen until our fantastic Andreas came in to upload some videos.

And I must add that Buse is looking quite luxurious with his shaved face!  Nice work Buse.

Now I must be off; till later.

How-Now-Brown-Cow?

What’s up, everyone?  Woke up to a beautiful day today.  This weather is really amazing when you are driving and have all the windows down.  I mean, I’m a window down kind of person to begin with…even in the winter; but when the sun is shining and the breeze is the perfect temperature, it’s a lot more effective. The sound of the wind keeps me calm and somehow soothes me.  My car windows are never closed because I feel terribly alone and trapped when they are.  Perhaps I am the only person who does this?  Who knows?

Anyway, we’ve got a busy day today, so it’s time to get going.  Till Later…

Virtuosity…IN THE FLESH!?

If you saw a stumbling, foggy-eyed girl with an afro and pink spandex shorts today, it was me—Larissa, [Buse’s better half] on my way to putting the faces of the much talked about HighBreed masthead to the names. Down in the depths of this amazing place of diverse virtuosity, professionally maintained equipment and hilarious characters, Buse worked on and eventually came to introduce me to the magic.  Smells of dumplings and stir fried veggies, swinging jazz, and a sitar are only a few of the illin’ delights that bombarded my dome piece, and if this is what quality hard work smells and looks like already, I can’t wait to feel it at a show!

Peace, please & afrogrease,

La’Larissa

Puttrookuu has returned from his hiatus for a week and, in addition to talking in 3rd person, is ready to get back into the groove of writing till his fingers bleed.  Really though, I despise when people talk in third person, so I will quit it.

My trip to Florida was okay…not the best circumstances to be visiting “The Sunshine State,” but The Khan thinks I don’t look ghostly anymore due to a little color in my skin, so not a total downer. I’m ready to get back into the permanent distraction that is New York; a lot of writing and editing to do; a lot of cars and car honks and people shouting; a lot of television and computer screens.  Well, it’s time to get back on track, so till later.
