With access to so many amazing acts, HighBreedMusic is helping to expand their reach by adding them to our new Video Series. The staged, single camera videos of artists’ latest singles, or simply moments of impromptu inspiration, are built to instantaneously garner new fans and gain momentum for the best of HighBreedMusic talent so far.

Last nite HBM welcomed Mariella, the co-host of the renowned Freestyle Mondays in Manhattan. Her magnetic vocals set the tone for the shoot and made for a great short we’ll be posting soon.

The music world has lost a wonderful pioneer today with the death of Soul Train host, Don Cornelius. His contribution to both black music and media made it possible for early modern soul to be broadcast to mainstream America and led to Soul Train’s influence on many popular artists to come.

So, when we say The Breeding Ground is a full-service recording lounge, we mean it. The space doubles as the practice home for HighBreedMusic’s own Improv House Group, The High Breed Approach. This well-versed 3-piece rhythm section is comprised of rotating virtuosos Alex “That Dude” Busby Smith (Bass), Bob “Bobby Pocket” Edinger (Drums), and Tariq Khan (Vocals). We couldn’t be more thrilled to see the guys in action as they begin their February rehearsal schedule for a host of exciting events to come..!

After last night’s show, the Curtis MacDonald Group definitely made their mark on The Breeding Ground..! Their high level of skill and musical expression brought a new sonic experience to the stage. We’re looking forward to their footage, especially the shots from the GoPro Camera mounted high on Chris Tordini’s Upright Bass. Down to the smallest production details, here at HighBreedMusic we don’t only musically innovate, we expand the boundaries of live entertainment. Stay tuned..!

This “sleekly modern band”  (NY Times) is lead by Alto Sax Curtis MacDonald and comprised of Bobby Avey (Keys), Chris Tordini (Bass), and Adam Jackson (Drums). With complex counterpoint and deliberately winding melodies, this fresh group is eager to grace you with their definition of Jazz.

It’ll be an early evening, but we’ll be broadcasting the recording and video shoot by high quality live stream on NuMuBu.com. This Industry site is the .com for artist networking with 70 different types of profiles available.

Oh snap! The winter has finally found us! 

I even had to bundle up the pug in her pink winter jacket.

It’s late night, Friday…oh yeah. But down here in the main office of HighBreedMusic, we’re working hard. We’ve had a crazy couple of weeks, jam-packed with travel, meetings, sessions, and visitors from Montreal. 

Our publicist, Sophy Kay is here to work with us for a few days. It’s good to have the remote crew in the building. We’re working hard to do what we do and to bring it all to you in time for our launch. Woo…no sleep till Brooklyn…as she learned the last night when we were still going strong around 2:30 in the morning. Oh, we will break you in my dear. No worries ;)

Right now, I’m waiting for a video I’m working on to render…two hours says the message box. Word? Aye. Lining up audio is…time consuming…but it feels really good once the delays/echoes are worked out. Success…woooo.. In the meantime, I’m updating all of our sites and working on some paperwork. The Khan, Shabaz, and Bobby Pocket are repairing cables. Soldering stinks. Literally. I almost blamed poor Poops-Zsa-Top for the foul stench, lol, but it was just stench of wires being soldered.

I feel my energy starting to fade away, I think it’s time for some sugar. Or 20 deep breaths. I read that 20 of those are as effective as a cup of coffee and there’s no crash. 

Maybe I’ll try it out.

Convo right now:

BP: “Damn bitches.”

TK: “I agree. Damn bitches.  (sung) They are there to waste our tiiiime.”

After four months, I made it back to Brooklyn from Montreal. I dropped in to see my homies @ the HighBreedMusic headquarters. Walking up to the building all I can remember is the insanity of the evacuation in June! The building looks great, the studio looks fantastic. Sadly my bed has turned into a storage for drums :( Highbreed’s renovations have made the studio more cozy and inspiring than ever! So glad to be back here with the fantastic, welcoming crew. BIG LOVE.
