Music We Like - King

Combined the HighBreedMusic team has a very eclectic taste in music. Ranging from the corniest pop tunes to soul-moving exclusives, we cover just about every genre. Differences aside, we can always agree on really good music. This week, we’ll give you a sample of artists we’ve been feeling in 2011.

First up:

KING

Probably one of our favorite discoveries this year, this trio puts everyone @ HighBreedMusic in a great mood when their music plays. It’s not every day we find someone with a different sound, but King has successfully crafted a vibe that is soulful, fresh, and contagious. And they are seeping into the music systems of music lovers all over the world. The L.A. based group’s debut EP, “The Story” (available to purchase on Amazon & iTunes) has such a hypnotic effect that many times, we don’t even realize there are only three tracks.

Where can you hear more King? They are a featured on the upcoming (2012) Robert Glasper Experiment album Black Radio.

The track is called “Move Love.” (Skip to 1:21 for the song if you don’t want to listen to the interview.)

We are definitely looking forward to hearing more creations from these lovely ladies!

Give your ears a late Christmas present!

Brrrrrr! It’s cold.

Oh snap! The winter has finally found us!

I even had to bundle up the pug in her pink winter jacket.

She hates it.

What’s going on with HighBreedMusic? Wellll…everything! We’ve got full plates here and endless appetites for doing good work.

Stay tuned!

Song of the day: Poop’s bark at the doorbell. I’ll have to post it for all to see. It is hilarious. Thank God for Studio Mascots. And pugs.

Burritos!

We just got back from eating burritos at Morelos…Yum. I think I’m waaaaay too full to stay up much longer, but I wanted to stop by and say hello and thank you to everyone who tuned in to our first live broadcast of Snarky Puppy’s rehearsals at The Breeding Ground on Numubu.

Snarky Puppy were good sports, answering questions, telling viewers a little about their background, and playing some awesome music for for everyone who tuned in. It was a great day and tomorrow will be even cooler. More band members will be coming through to rehearse, so we’ll have a full house. Wish I could be there too, but I’ll be filming a press event. No worries, I’ll be back to host our live broadcast on Friday. Tomorrow, you’ll get to see The High Breed drummer, Bob Edinger, host Snarky Puppy’s rehearsal on Numubu. Show him some love and tell all your friends!

Thursday rehearsal time: 5pm-8pm EST

I WILL BE BACK!

**A long lost post discovered in the spam folder…hate when that happens..sorry about that Anis. :) **

This is my last “official” day here at The Breeding Ground, but I am happy to say that this has been the greatest summer of my life! I had an amazing work crew (Tariq, Nikki, Bilkis, Patrick, John Busi, Mikeinder, Jeff) and learned more than I could’ve ever imagined.  The connections and friendships I have made will last me a lifetime and the things Tariq has taught me about the music industry will definitely help me advance in the world of music.  I thank all of you for exposing me to a world of opportunities and remember “I WILL BE BACK”

Circadian Rhythm - Off Tempo

My clock is all off! And while I’m no stranger to this time of the morning, I almost have no real sense of time. It’s dark down here. We don’t get much natural light…and when you know that you have a ton of work to get through, the hours go by, the days blend, and all of a sudden you’re a new zodiac sign. (YEAAAAH LEOOSSSS - Special Leo shout outs to: Anis, Andreas, Cleon, Chichi, Tenillia, Rob, and yours truly…yeah, I shouted myself out-what?)

With such a heavy work load, setting goals is important. You can’t just think about setting them. You have to have a thought that leads directly to an action, and presto: your path is clear, the next step is within your reach, and suddenly nothing is daunting or intimidating. So with that in mind, this week, my goal is to get myself re-organized, use that system, and get going. There’s so much to be done, and it’s really go time…so let’s go!

Here’s to hoping Bilkis had a safe flight back to her homeland.

Here’s to hoping John will recover from his triple threat attack and rejoin us soon.

Here’s to everyone to everyone working hard to make a dream reality…and everyone else who helps to make that possible.

I’m very fortunate.

But knowing that doesn’t get the work done. Working on it with a clear head, plan, and goal does.

Nikuvu

…and I can’t leave without saying anything about Amy Winehouse…so sad, please don’t let your habits get in the way of your talents…one of my Amy faves…

love/hate relationship!

It’s commercials like these that make my hate for commercial breaks go down.  For the most part I hate commercials, unless I’m watching a Dexter or Psych and have to use the bathroom really bad.   You gotta love Cheetos!!

Anis

Heat Wave

Omg. It is so hot outside.

Anis came in half melted lol. He told me that school field trips were canceled because of the heat. That’s crazy! Thank goodness for the office. We’re nice and cool here as we discover new music and talk about the different people we’d like to see live. There is so much good music out there!

A sad note: We’re going to miss Bilkis. In fact, we’re missing her already.

Thank you for all of your hard work Bilkis!

Back to work, letter’s to write, videos to edit, and of course, trying not to let the heat beat us.

Nikuvu

Organization!

Let me just start off by saying, I hate clutter! Yes, I know hate is a strong word, but it’s the only word that can define how strongly I feel about a mess.  Nikki and I did a ton of organizing today at The Breeding Ground and man does it feel good!  Besides, being organized is a healthy lifestyle =P

Anis

If you can’t get to sleep, get to to it…

Oh insomnia…must have something to do with the scorcher of a day it’s supposed to be here in NYC. Hotter than yesterday, which I hear was pretty unbearable…sometimes it’s good to work underground :)

Iced coffee?

Oh yeah.
