Last night I sat in the studio with our guests singer Sara MK and guitarist Jordan Peters as they talked about the difficulties involved in being a musician. We touched on several subjects from looking for management to being overprotective of projects. It was really interesting to hear their perspective and see that many artists share the same concerns.
But as The Khan always says, you have to have goals…or else, what are you working for? How do you know when you get there? We all agree that this is important, but defining them isn’t always easy…especially when you know you’re capable of doing anything. However, in order to avoid feeling like your time has been wasted, setting and meeting goals is a huge step in the right direction.
Tomorrow we’re going to see some awesome performances:
Chris Rob Live @ Union Square Best Buy
Melanie Charles & The Journey, Live @ Medgar Evers Park
Both shows are free… come out, come out :)

My internship here at HighBreedMusic and The Breeding Ground NYC is slowly coming to a close. I have been working on my portfolio and it brings a smile on my face when I go through all my memories here. The bands I’ve worked with are some of the most incredible musicians I have ever met, and the connections I have made will last me a lifetime. I have learned so much about audio production and how many different aspects there are to being an audio engineer. All in all, as Arnold says “I WILL BE BACK!” = )

It feels like it’s been a while since I’ve heard a song nowadays with legitimately sweet solo’s…I mean where each member of the band takes their respective turn for 2 minutes or so to make love to their instrument. Some people forget sometimes the power that a good solo has; it’s good to know Melanie Charles and The Journey haven’t underestimated this power. Almost every song they performed featured a solo that showcased the talent these musicians had.
Melanie’s voice and flute playing got me wanting to light up some candles and soak my body in vanilla scented shampoo oil…or dance some number in an underground indie movie where the focus is jazz and sexiness…take that scene from Spider Man 3 in the jazz club, erase Toby Maguire completely and replace him with a person who’s a cross between a Denzel Washington and Robert Deniro crooner. In other words…it was sexy and badass at the same time.
The entire group just had me wanting to toss white rose petals all over the floor of some tropical High-Rise, light lilac scented candles, dress all in white, no windows, no doors, just white curtains gently blowing in the breeze coming off from the ocean while Marvin Gaye pours out of a vintage record player like freshly homemade Italian wine. Yeah…this is what went on in my head while listening to this awesomely sweet, personally and musically, group of musicians. The smiling faces at the end of the night just magnified the effect cast through the music. Here’s to more excellent sessions such as last night’s. Later, every one.
Greetings and Salutations!
Reporting in from a remote location, full of explosions and toxic waste (sick bed), I bring you good news! Last night’s show was fantastic. Audience members who attended couldn’t believe they walked into a show-a live album recording session that sounded as good as it did…with artists as talented as our special guests last night.
Melanie Charles and The Journey…check them out! I was going to include a link, but I want you to work for it :)
It was a very busy day, and everyone worked hard to make sure that our guests wanted for nothing. Feel better to all of our sick HighBreed staff…you guys have been working hard, and we really appreciate it!
