Tuesday, Tuesday, Tuesday= busy, busy, busy. Have I said “busy, busy, busy” before? Oh well, forgive me but sometimes it just takes too long to find the perfect phrasing. Letting it slide, I’ll say that cleaning for the first part of the day, and writing, editing, mixing for the second part has kept everyone productive. I mean, it’s pretty easy to be productive when you have an ongoing playlist of Michael Jackson and Prince in the background. Toss in a little Marvin Gaye and you got a recipe for a happily active day. Nikki and I have been busy editing an important letter…the joys of being a writer and trying to find the perfect ways to express what you want to say. Aggravation ensues!
See that! At least what we are writing for a purpose…something we can feel worthy of putting our best efforts into. The rest of the team’s been doing everything from mixing and editing some tracks to making some sweet espressos.

Scott, Mike, and Buse are continuing their Tom highlights and song edits…it’s all coming together nicely and sounds pretty rad to me. Good news of the day (that I found out): Groundfood was really happy with our video for them! This all makes us really proud and inspires us to work harder to please all these artists that we admire and respect. Till tomorrow (or tonight, depending upon my mood) I wish you all a very happy Tuesday evening/night!

This morning I woke up annoyingly early and haven’t been able to get back to sleep. Well, to be completely accurate, I wasn’t motivated to go back to sleep. It’s amazing to enjoy being awake. Not everyone does. (Life happens now, and such.) So, I’ve been hanging out in a room that barely remembers me, listening to random songs as they pop into my head. I can’t listen to the radio, it’s not fulfilling. I don’t get that deep sense of satisfaction that comes from listening to a great song with all of yourself. Music should make you feel nourished. A couple days ago, after Marquese heard the finished Groundfood songs, he took a deep breath, smiled, and said, “That felt goooood!” Indeed!
I’ve been time travelling to find a sound that fits today’s feel. The playlist over the last 20 minutes is pretty random-Priestess, Iggy Pop, Johnnie Taylor, Bettye Swan, Sugar Ray, Barbara Acklin. Next up…who knows. I just want it to be positive and uplifting. When you’re around that energy at work all day, not taking it home with you isn’t an option. Today’s plan, some housekeeping and writing-personal projects. It’s going to be a relaxing day.
Happy Sunday to all :-)

Hello Hello!
Today was a very productive day, indeed. I spent some time researching grant writing and other professional forms of written communication. I’ve been trying to wrap my head around the idea of switching from first-person journal style writings, to selfless professional writing…hopefully, it doesn’t take TOO much time. I finally met Andreas! He is one of the videographers here…a really awesome guy. He worked on the Groundfood video which, to me, looks amazing. Andreas is German…another person to help me open my little Long Island mind nice and wide…I love it. I am even trying new foods and drinks…something my family and friends have been trying to get me to do for years ( I’m a very picky eater). I tried some of Tariq’s homemade Chai Tea and loved it…who knew, right? Props to Tariq for making a fine cup of tea.
The rest of the crew was working hard as well. Scott was in his meditation chamber working on the “beauteous idiosyncracies of the Toms for Groundfood,” (Direct quote). Mike was also working on the Tom editing for Groundfood. Busi performed a much needed clean up of the kitchen as well as some more carpentry work for the shelves and desks. All in all, it was a busy day! Til Tomorrow, friends.

I’m kind of being a party-pooper, I’m hiding in my room reading over Puttrookuu’s submissions, as well as the other blogs the guys posted. Sounds like a lot was accomplished, and I can’t wait for Tuesday when I will be back in the bat cave with them.

I love working with awesome people. Even though we’re all working on different pieces of the same puzzle, it’s always invigorating to know your passion for music is shared by everyone around you… it definitely keeps you connected with your own talents. On a happy side note, I found out today another one of my poems is to be published. Sweeeet! Time to hit all those spring manuscript, chapbook, and contest submission deadlines!
I should get back to this going away party…but I know I’m going to do a little more work…especially since a wack song just came on. itune DJs. Sigh. Gimme some Groundfood!

It’s 2:16 in the morning and The Khan is having a meeting with videographers Andreas and Dwain. The footage from the GROUNDFOOD and Toni Menage sessions (to name a few) is pretty dope and anticipating the final product has us all bubbling. There is never a dull moment here.
I office-nerded out earlier getting the administrative stuff organized. The hanging file folders came today :-D Yes, yes. It excited me.
Don’t judge.
The rings are swinging above me (everyone needs a good stretch) and talk of the next artist in addition to a preview of his music…wooo boy. Forgive me if I overuse the word “excited” but the late hour prevents me from scanning for a more powerful adjective.
There’s nothing about HBM that isn’t exciting. Work hard. Listen Hard. We’re breeding.
