We are a music production company in Brooklyn, NYC that specializes in capturing live performances in high-quality studio audio and HD SLR video. Our artists include a diverse range of international artists with major label credits, in genres including Neo-Soul, Funk, RnB, Jazz, Roots Reggae, and World Music.
We offer several services including recording packages, beat conversion, bookings, a catalog of over 20 different styles of music for singers, MC's, and other vocalists to choose from, industry events, and a weekly writing night for session musicians.
We believe in charitable acts, and our team of professionals and interns work pro bono. In this blog you can peek into our world, and see the work and fun behind the high-quality products we produce for the virtuosic artists we have the pleasure of working with.
We Breed Virtuosity.
Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
As we don’t mic the individual toms when we record drums, and just employ two dazzling Coles ribbon microphones as overheads, we have to isolate the drums digitally, and then bring them to their full potential. Thus, the insane ninja drumming of So Disrespectful’s Dean James is quite a chore to discern, as he hits toms like hummingbirds flap wings. This has been the bulk of my audio work lately, and the tracks are really shaping up. The Khan is in his native Montreal for the week, contacting contacts, and promoting promotions, with a little fun on the side I hope. My own visiting Canadian friend took some pictures of the rest of the HighBreed team today in our resident building 345 Eldert St. in the heart of Bushwick, Brooklyn, NYC; so that you may all see us in our zen glory. A few of the shots are up here on our blog. New York certainly witnessed a shot of life with the 80 degree (21 in Canada) weather, and I am appropriately reminded of Leonard Cohen (another Montreal native) and how the famous romantic described women on the first hot day of Spring, “..they peel like fruit.” Indeed, Monsieur Cohen.
